It depends entirely on what's causing the water and how far it has to travel to get gone. A simple regrade and surface swale is a different job than a full modified French drain system with a rock-armored outlet. We don't quote over the phone off a description — we come look at the property, tell you what's actually happening and why, and give you a straight number before any work starts. Estimates are free.

In Middle Tennessee it's almost always one of three things: clay soil that won't take water down, a yard graded flat or back toward the house, or a downspout and roof runoff dumping in one concentrated spot. Clay is the big one — our soil sheds water instead of absorbing it, so anywhere the ground is level, it ponds. The fix is giving the water a defined path off the property rather than hoping it soaks in.

We haul it off. Concrete, brick, old porches and slabs, stumps, brush, and excess spoil all leave with us unless you tell us you want the dirt kept on site. A pile left in your side yard isn't a finished job.

Usually within a week or two for an estimate, and scheduling depends on weather and what's already on the calendar. Dirt work is weather-dependent — we don't dig saturated ground and leave you with a rutted yard just to hit a date. If it's an active problem threatening a foundation or a driveway, tell us when you call and we'll work you in sooner.

Both. A good share of our work is excavation for somebody else's build — footers and foundations, pad prep, demolition and haul-off, backfill, and final grade. Give us the layout and the depth and we'll have it dug and clean when your crew shows up.

Most residential drainage and grading work in Sumner County doesn't require a permit, but it depends on the scope, whether you're in a floodplain, and whether you're altering a drainage way or working near a property line or easement. We'll tell you straight if we think your job needs one — we're not going to start digging and let you find out later.
